TJ2_LINEUP_Harvest Review

TJ2_LINEUP_Harvest Review_v1

The HARVEST REVIEW issue contains 72 pages of first-hand reporting from in-country writers on the harvest and which teas were well crafted in 2016. We do not waste ink naming brands. Readers will find conditions in gardens and sub-regions much more interesting. Consider a reporting style much like wine writers who recommend a vintage and vineyard with comments on the wine maker’s style, the seasonal variations of 2016 and historical significance of teas.

Some gardens are brands (Makaibari) and some regions are brands (Jeju Island), so this directive does not ban the mention of tea brands, but Tea Journey is not about marketing tea; it’s about tea discovery, tea preparation and authentic tea processing. Customers are pretty good at selecting their preferred vendors. The advertising in Tea Journey is a great place to start… but our intent is to “shift the conversation from tins to terroir… and from packets to people.” Keep that in mind as you refine the story lines that follow.
